Our Strategic Direction and Approach to AI
At HubHead, our focus has always been as a provider of best-of-breed solutions for managing asset and maintenance master data more efficiently for asset management systems, including EAM/CMMS. Fundamentally, we provide productivity tools that allow our customers to cost-effectively create the high-quality data foundation required for more efficient maintenance and operations. We have always had a strong focus on automation and increasing productivity wherever we can. To a certain extent, this has always included artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). For example, sophisticated pattern matching has always been used to avoid creating duplicate materials.
There is no doubt in our minds that AI and ML will be a game changer for asset and maintenance master data management. Over the last two years, we have built a strong internal data science team and made acquisitions like DataSeer to position ourselves as a leader in industrial AI focused on asset and maintenance master data. Here is why we believe we are uniquely positioned to provide the best AI powered solutions in our space.
We have always believed strongly in what we call “eating our own dog food”. This means that we use our solutions on our own services projects. This has always had numerous benefits including better, more useable, fit-for-purpose solutions. It allows us to develop deep domain expertise in real-world problems that our customers face. In terms of AI and ML, it also allows us to identify where the most time is spent on projects and where the most time can be saved. Moving forward, it will provide focus on where to invest in developing best-of-breed AI/ML solutions that deliver a high ROI to our industrial clients. It will ensure that our AI/ML solutions function effectively and deliver real value to customers.
Our approach to rolling out new AI/ML solutions is to first use them internally on customer projects where it makes sense to do so. This allows us to train the systems effectively using real world data. It allows us to see how well the solution works at scale and to focus on the user interface (UI) and human intelligence (HI) part of the puzzle. Our initial goal it to be more productive as a services organization. Ultimately, we want get solutions that are easy to use and deliver a real ROI into the hands of customers. Often, these are custom solutions for specific customers that solve a data management challenge they are facing. Eventually, our goal is to deliver productized SaaS solutions to the market in general. One of our first AI solutions to become generally available was our AI Powered Digital Twin Builder.
